| I haven't been able to use my laptop to connect to the internet in Columbus until today. i've always had problems in this house what with my ethernet adapter being flaky and having to rely on the wireless connection provided by Bill's router. I don't really understand the problem, but I've always felt like it could only handle one wireless connection at a time, whether or not this was really the case. Anyway, today I decided to investigate why I could be connected to his wireless router and yet not access the internet (which is always the case). It took me awhile to find the router, because it wasn't in the basement with all the other equipment. Turns out that either Bill moved the outlet that his router was connected to, or someone messed with the connections in the basement, because his router was on but it wasn't hooked into the cable modem at all. No wonder I was connected only to his router and nothing more. | | |
| BELAY SLAVE When someone belays for you for hours on end, as you climb any routes you choose. Usually a friend who owes a really big favor, an injured buddy, or someone crushing hard enough to withstand the painful crick in the neck from watching you climb. That was in a monthly email I receive from my climbing gym, in the "improve your climbing lingo" section. I thought the crushing hard enough part was pretty funny. | | |
| So I just got an invite to go to a battle of the bands contest in Cincinnati, which of course I can't do, since I'm in WA. But the name of the band intrigued me so I searched for them, and here's what I found:

| So I've found myself stopping on the educational access channel lately. Today, I watched an hour-long presentation from the UW science forum 2005 about RFID tags. It effectively described how the tags work in tandem with tag readers, current uses, issues, and various privacy concerns. If you want to watch it, go here | | |
| When I have time, I like to peruse the slashdot. In this article I found that mixing cornflour and water together makes one of them that is liquid until you hit it, and then it's solid. Check this video out to watch someone run across a big vat of it | | |
